Last days with family before moving on-Part 1

One branch of the Boynton family organizes a turkey dinner under a tent on her front  lawn for 50-69 people.  It was nice to be home to attend that event and catch up with relatives I haven't seen in 20 years or more.

We traveled two days to visit with Sonny's family in opposite parts of the state. Another day, we spent  at my brother's camp (weekend place) when the temp got up to 90* and we enjoyed a dip in the lake. We all went to a Saturday night church supper, a New England tradition. My sister, niece and I spent a day antiquing at some of our favorite shops. One night for dinner, my sister made popovers for all of us.  Yum!  Sonny and I cruised country back roads.

Family Thanksgiving
The woman on the right, Kay, was married to my father's cousin.  Her daughter is trying to fix her contact.

A painting of my paternal grandparent's homestead. At another anniversary, I remember playing on this lawn with  my siblings and cousins. The reflection is from the glass in the frame.

My sister, Kim and I went to Jordan Pond House  on Mt Desert Island for their famous popovers but we couldn't get near the restaurant so we ate seafood at the Chart Room instead.

There were three cruise ships in the harbor so the town was crammed with tourists.
My brother's weekend place.  He and my father remodel an old shack into this 3 story home.

Sonny swept the leaves off the deck.

The lake view. The girls got in for a swim since is was 90*.
We drove up to Limestone, Maine, a 3 hour drive from Bangor to visit with Sonny's great niece and family.  It is potato harvest time so I was trying to catch some of the equipment.

I-95 traffic in northern Maine.  You can see the leaves haven't turned much and it's September 26.

These are potato trucks (except the yellow one)
Well, we did see some traffic!  A pulp truck.

One of Sonny's family members owns a granite quarry.  Men were blasting while we were visiting.  That was an interesting experience-a visit from the engineer, a horn blast, big noise and ground shaking.  We have a piece of granite in our truck to make a step in front of our sauna cabin.

We had lunch with Sonny's Aunt Miriam.  Early in our "courtin' and sparkin' days'", we would go to her farm for Saturday night dinner.  She baked the best beans in her wood stove and made wonderful biscuits.

Miriam and I split a whoopi pie for desert.
Sonny had cheesecake on a long plate.
