PEI is known for its potato industry. The island has dedicated a museum to document potato history. It was almost 50 miles out of the way but it was a lovely, warm day so we took the ride. Afterwards, we drove to the Confederation Bridge and on to Mactaquac, New Brunswick to camp for the night. We had driven a long ways, tempers were short the GPS didn't work in Canada and we were hungry.

In the morning, I wanted one last look at the beach on Prince Edward Island before we left. The wind was up making surf where yesterday, the water was flat calm. |

We didn't find out what the M stood for. Inside, we saw exhibits on the health of a potato; the kinds that are grown in PEI and why, plus all the machinery it takes to raise a potato. I remember friends who lived up in the county getting out of school for 3 weeks to pick potatoes. Another exhibit displayed potatoes in little coffins after having been afflicted with disease. |

The museum grounds included an old one room school house. |

One old building housed donated equipment. |

These pages talk about the Sebego potato from Maine. (The second page is in French) |

We followed this piece of farm equipment along the road. Some kind of a sprayer. Could almost drive under it. |

Starting back across the bridge. |

Almost to New Brunswick. |

The only moose we saw were on signs. |
