The Potato Museum before driving to Mactaquac

PEI is known for its potato industry. The island has dedicated a museum to document potato history.  It was almost 50 miles out of the way but it was a lovely, warm day so we took the ride. Afterwards, we drove to the Confederation Bridge and on to Mactaquac, New Brunswick to camp for the night.  We had driven a long ways, tempers were short  the GPS didn't work in Canada and we were hungry.
In the morning, I wanted one last look at the beach on Prince Edward Island before we left. The wind was up making surf where  yesterday, the water was flat calm.
We didn't find out what the M stood for.  Inside, we saw exhibits on the health of a potato; the kinds that are grown in PEI and why, plus all the machinery it takes to raise a potato. I remember friends who lived up in the county getting out of school for 3 weeks to pick potatoes. Another exhibit displayed potatoes in little coffins after having been afflicted with disease.

The museum grounds included an old one room school house.

One old building housed donated equipment.

These pages talk about the Sebego potato from Maine. (The second page is in French)

We followed this piece of  farm equipment along the road.  Some kind of a sprayer. Could almost drive under it.

Starting back across the bridge.

8 miles long

Almost to New Brunswick.

The only moose we saw were on signs.
